Take off from Mystic, climb in the rising thermals, hopping from peak to peak, before gliding past Mount Buffalo to land at Ringer Reef Vineyard for a wine tasting and charcuterie board? Sounds like a dream.
Cross Country flying is the art of riding thermals up to the clouds, before gliding to the next mountain peak to climb again. It’s a true expression of unpowered, free flight, and our local tandem pilots are some of the best in the country at it.
A cross country flight with Bright Flight is an exploration of our home mountain peaks. Depending on the day, you might cover 20k’s, see snow covered peaks as far away as NSW, or soar with (friendly) Wedge Tailed eagles. You’ll see why a true Cross Country flight is the goal of many new solo pilots. What makes this one truely special is that you’ll land in a designated paragliding landing zone, inside one of our region’s best wineries, before being taken for a special wine tasting and afternoon tea.
You’ll meet in the Landing Paddock before the drive up the hill with your pilot, and the team will brief you on what to expect next. Once in the air, your pilot will take you on the best route based on the flying conditions, before landing at Ringer Reef. When you’re done at Ringer Reef our team will take you home.
All up, the experience takes around 4 hours, and there is simply nothing that compares to exploring the air above you (and the wines of our region!).

Around 2.5 hours, including briefing, travel from the landing zone to launch and set-up.
Choosing dates
You’ll be asked to nominate a date or two on the booking form. Whether you’re in town for a weekend, a week, or you live nearby, we’ll work with you to find the best day and time based on your availbility and the weather. Nothing is set in stone because we’re a little dependent on the weather and we want you to have the best possible experience.
Weather to fly
When we finalise the time with you we’ll discuss weather to make sure you get the most from your flight based on the timing you have available.
We have a flexible weather rebooking policy, we’d rather you have a great experience with our team, than flying in air that doesn’t give you a fantastic experience. We understand that what makes for a smooth flight will vary from passenger to passenger, so we’ll discuss what you’re after when we book in.
Passenger Requirements
To fly tandem with us you need to be between 30 – 100kg, and have done at least 10 laps around the sun (minimum 10 years old). However, if your a younger pilot, it might be better to start with a high flight before going cross country.
Tall or short is no problem, and so long as you can do a short light jog you should be fine, but if you have any questions about suitability please give us a call.
What to wear and bring
We launch almost 600m above town and might get as high as 2000m above sea level, and the air can get cool up there. A light jacket in summer, and a warmer jacket in winter.
Trainers, running or walking shoes work best, launching and landing is easy, but you’ll need to wear shoes you can do a short jog in.
You’ll also want your sunglasses, and any phones, GoPro’s or selfie sticks.
Photos
It’s 2023 and we all have smart phones. Our pilots can provide selfie sticks with leashes that fit most phones at no cost, and we’ll give you tips for you and your entourage on where to stand on launch and landing for the best shots of your take-off and landing.
Transport
We meet and finish at the Landing Zone on Wandiligong road. So all you need to do is get to us, and we’ll take it from there.
Best time of year
Every season has it’s own advantages. Summer has hot daylight savings evenings where you can float above town at the end of a long day of play, Winter lets you catch glimpses of snow capped mountains. In Spring you’ll see waterfalls glistening off buffalo, and in Autumn, well, there’s no better way to see the tree colours than a glide over town.

To cancel your flight for a refund we need to be notified at least 24 hours before your flight.
